Is the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea Right for Your Family with Babies or Toddlers?
Short answer: Yes, if you book the right room, pick the right pool, and go in knowing the kids club doesn't take kids under 5. I'm a luxury travel advisor, and I just stayed here with my own little ones. Below is the honest, specific review I wish I'd had before I booked.

Best for: parents who want adult-grade service, calm beach, and great food while traveling with a baby or toddler.
Skip if: you want a giant water-park resort with a lazy river and big slides (that's Grand Wailea), or you're price shopping at the bottom of the market.
Ideal kid ages: 0–4 (because of the room/beach/pool setup) and 5+ (because the free kids club opens up).
Nightly rate range: often $1,200+, climbing to $2,500+ over holidays, before taxes and resort fee.

Getting there:
You will fly into Kahului Airport (OGG), the main airport in Maui. It takes around 25 – 30 minutes to get to the resort from the airport and it is a pretty straight run. There are a couple of options you can choose from to get to the resort from the airport.
Rental Car: We opted to rent a car, which I’d recommend if you plan to leave the hotel and explore beyond Wailea! I love using Discount Hawaii Rental Cars for their great service and prices.
Private Transfer and Shuttle Bus: The Concierge can arrange car transfers to and from the airport at an additional cost. Once you arrive, you can use the complimentary shuttle bus from the resort around Wailea to beaches, luaus, golf courses, restaurants and more. This is also a great option if you’ve rented a car but plan to have a few drinks out one night.
The setting: Wailea vs. Ka'anapali for little kids
Four Seasons Maui sits in Wailea, on Maui's south shore. For families with babies and toddlers, Wailea has real advantages over Ka'anapali (the other big resort area):
Calmer water in the morning. Wailea Beach is consistently gentler than Ka'anapali, especially before 11am, meaning your toddler can actually splash without you white-knuckling it.
Shorter drive from the airport (OGG). About 35 minutes vs. 45–60 to Ka'anapali. With a jet-lagged baby, that matters.
Less commercial. Fewer crowds spilling onto the beach from the public boardwalk.
The trade-off: Wailea is sunnier and drier (good with kids), but you're farther from Lahaina and the road to Hana. Most families with little ones aren't doing Hana anyway, so this is a net win.
Rooms — what to actually book with a baby or toddler
The rooms at Four Seasons Maui are some of the largest of any luxury resort on the island, that matters more than you'd think when you're sharing a room with a Pack 'n Play and a sound machine.
My pick: Partial Ocean View, low floor
Here's why low floor matters with little kids: stroller in and out of the lobby is faster, the elevator wait is shorter at nap time, and the balconies on lower floors face the pool deck and lawn (great for toddler people-watching). The Partial Ocean View category gets you the same room layout as Ocean View for considerably less.
What the resort sets up for free, no questions asked
Pack 'n Play / crib with crib sheets (request a second set — toddlers leak).
Blackout curtains are standard and they actually work. Real darkness for 7pm bedtime.
Sound machine on request from housekeeping.
Bottle warmer and bottle sterilizer on request.
High chair in-room if you want to do meals on the balcony (we did, often).
Outlet covers and a babyproofing kit on request.
Balcony safety
Balconies have full glass railings floor-to-top, no horizontal bars for a climber to use as a ladder. This was the single biggest reason I felt comfortable here vs. some older properties.
The pools, ranked for under-5s
There are three main pools, plus a dedicated kids' pool. They are not equal for families.
Waterfall Pool (your pool). Built with families in mind: it's split into two linked sections joined by a short slide, with shaded loungers and cabanas where you can keep an eye on your kids. This is where you'll spend your days.
Keiki (kids) pool. A dedicated pool for the youngest guests, complete with a waterfall, a gentle slide, and pool toys. Perfect for toddlers who aren't ready for the bigger pool.
Fountain Pool. Open 24/7 and quieter, great for nap-shift parenting (one parent in the room, one with the awake kid here).
Serenity Pool — adults only, 21+. Infinity edge, swim up bar, underwater music. Do not bring a child here; the staff will (politely) ask you to leave. It exists for a reason, respect it and you'll appreciate it on a date night.
To be clear on the water park question: the Waterfall and Keiki pools have small slides that little kids love, but there's no lazy river or large-scale water-park setup. If that's what your kids want, that's Grand Wailea's lane, more on that below.
Free at every pool: towels, sunscreen, chilled eucalyptus towels passed around at peak heat, aloe vera, and frozen treats handed out by the pool attendants.
Wailea Beach with a toddler
Wailea Beach is one of the best toddler beaches in Hawaii. The sand is soft and pale, the entry is gradual (no shore-break drop-off), and the morning surf is usually ankle-to-knee height on a 2-year-old. By afternoon the waves can build, so do beach time before lunch and pool time after.
Free shade umbrellas from the beach hut, get there by 9:30am to grab one in the front row.
Free beach toys, buckets, shovels, sand molds. Don't bother packing your own.
Stroller path from the pool deck straight to the sand, no stairs.
Sea turtles often hang at the rocks on the south end of the beach in the late afternoon, a real toddler highlight.
Kids For All Seasons — the kids club, honestly
Kids For All Seasons is ages 5 and up, running daily 9am–5pm. If you have a baby or a toddler under 5, the kids club is not your free childcare solution.
Here's what to do instead:
Book an in-room sitter through the Nany Connection (the long established Maui service the resorts refer guests to, confirm the current partner and rate with the resort when you book). Background-checked, CPR-trained, infant-experienced, comes to your room, with a 4-hour minimum. Book before you arrive, they fill up.
Use in-room dining for early kid dinners so you and your partner can do a real adult dinner at Ferraro's or Spago after bedtime.
For kids 5+: Kids For All Seasons is free, runs 9am–5pm daily, lunch included, and the activities (lei making, hula, beach scavenger hunts, gecko-spotting) are actually good.
Dining with a toddler — what actually works
Duo (breakfast)
This is the move for breakfast. Duo does steak and seafood and is open breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but breakfast with a toddler is where it shines: buffet plus à la carte, staff who know toddlers, real high chairs (not the plastic clip-on kind), fruit and pancakes a 2-year-old will eat, and Kona coffee for you. Go early, it gets busy by 8:30.
Ferraro's (lunch and dinner, oceanfront)
Beachside, open-air Italian, casual at lunch, more romantic at dinner. The kids menu is real (margherita pizza, pasta butter & cheese, grilled chicken). Lunch with a toddler here is genuinely pleasant, they bring crayons and a coloring sheet within 2 minutes of sitting down.
Spago (dinner, Wolfgang Puck)
Adults-only energy in practice. Not the move with a toddler. Save this for a sitter night.
Baby gear & logistics
Free from the resort: crib, high chair, bottle warmer, bottle sterilizer, sound machine, outlet covers, basic stroller (limited supply, request at booking), beach toys, sunscreen, towels.
Rent from a local baby-gear service: car seats, full-size strollers, beach tents, baby monitors, additional cribs, baby carriers.
Pack from home: your own sound machine if your baby is picky about it, sleep sacks, bottles/sippy cups your kid actually drinks from, swim diapers (the gift shop has them but at gift-shop prices), reef-safe sunscreen for kids.
The verdict
If you can swing the rate, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is the right call for families with babies and toddlers. You're paying for the service, the quiet, and the small details that make traveling with a small human feel less like a logistics exercise and more like a vacation. Book a Partial Ocean View, stay 5+ nights, plan one sitter night, and you'll come home rested.
